Kapiti Island Swim

This 5.6km swim across the Rauoterangi Channel from Kapiti Island to the Paraparaumu Beach is usually held late summer (January to March).  Timing of event depends on tides and availability of the Kapiti Boating Club so date can vary.  

This only open to a small number of swimmers as each swimmer gets allocated a boat.  Check rules regarding wetsuits, depending on the water temperature wetsuits may be mandatory (or only with evidence on a case-by-case basis for individual exception).

The swim this season is scheduled for Saturday 14 February 2026, with a swim start of 8:15am (arriving for checking in on the swim day 6:15am between 6:45am).  Registration will open on 1st October.
